How can you tell if a sample contains baking soda and cornstarch or baking powder?

    Try mixing it with vinegar. the acetic acid in vinegar reacts with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to create co2, this reaction will bubble ferociously but harmlessly. baking powder wouldn't have this reaction
