Two organisms are in the same phylum but not in the same class. Another pair of organisms are in the same genus. Which pair has more in common?

    Same genus is more closely related. The farther down the list of Phylum-Class-Order-Family-Genus-Species you go, the more closely related are the species in that taxon.
