Fresh palmwine is an organic compound usually derived and tapped from palm trees. They have a sweet taste and are usually consumed in most West African countries and other parts of the world.

A fresh tightly corked glass bottle filled to the brim with palm wine will shatter on standing for sometime due to the accumulation of carbon dioxide gas that results from the fermentation of the palmwine. Since the bottle is tightly corked and there is no room for gases to expand, the pressure of the carbon dioxide gas produced will eventually overcome that of the glass bottle and it will break.
