when you go camping and have a fire to roast marshmallows, what happen to the wood at the end of the night? it burns and we call this a chemical change. however the next morning there's less material in the fire pit than the night before. what happen to all the wood?

the problem that I have is that in a chemical reaction, is the mass of the product equal to the mass of the reactants? what do you think?

Mass of products equals mass of the reactants. If you build a campfire like this one, you start with a big pile of logs. As the fire burns, the pile of logs slowly shrinks. By the end of the evening, all that's left is a small pile of ashes.
