    0.26 L

    Explanation:

    Data given

    Volume of acetic acid (HC₂H₃O₂) (V1) = ?

    Molarity of acetic acid (HC₂H₃O₂) (M1) = 17.4 mol/L

    Volume of acetic acid (HC₂H₃O₂) (V2) = 4.5 L

    Molarity of acetic acid (HC₂H₃O₂) (M2) = 1.0 mol/L

    Solution:

    As we diluting the concentrated acetic acid (HC₂H₃O₂)

    So, Dilution formula will be used

    M1V1 = M2V2

    Put values in above equation

    17.4 mol/L x V1 = 1.0 mol/L x 4.5 L

    Rearrange the above equation

    V1 = 1.0 mol/L x 4.5 L / 17.4 mol/L

    V1 = 4.5 mol / 17.4 mol/L

    V1 = 0.26 L

    So 0.26 L of acetic acid (HC₂H₃O₂) is required
