A 0.45-g sample of aspirin is decomposed into its constituent elements and found to contain 0.27 g C, 0.020 g H, and 0.16 g O. Calculate the mass percent compositions of C, H, and O in aspirin.

    mass % of C = 0.27/0.45*100 = 60%

    mass % of H = 0.02/0.45*100 = 4.4%

    mass % of O = 0.16/0.45*100 = 35.6%

    Total = 60%+4.4% + 35.6% = 100%
