    Small amounts of gaseous hydrogen peroxide are found naturally in the air. Hydrogen peroxide is very unstable and decomposes slowly into oxygen and water with the release of large amounts of heat. Its rate of decomposition can be greatly increased in the presence of catalysts. This process is a chemical reaction since it transforms the hydrogen peroxide, changing its molecular structure and its bonds, into other simpler substances by decomposition.
