Mercury has one of the lowest specific heat capacities. If 257 J of heat are added to 0.45 KJ of mercury, the Mercury's temperature will increase by 4.09 K. What is the specific heat capacity of mercury?

    To find:

    Specific heat capacity = C

    Formula:

    By using specific heat equation,

    Q = m x C X ΔT

    C = Q / m x ΔT

    = 257J / o. 45 kg x 4.09K

    = 257J / 1.84

    = 139.67 (J/kgk)
