Hydrogen and oxygen react with each other according to the equation 2H₂ (g) + O₂ (g) → 2 H₂O (g) If 5.00 mol of O₂ react with an unlimited amount of hydrogen, what amount (in moles) of H₂O will be produced?

    Explanation:

    Since oxygen is our limiting reagent and we have an unlimited amount of hydrogen, we can't produce more water than there is available oxygen. BUT, since the equation 2H₂ (g) + O₂ (g) → 2 H₂O (g) shows that we get two moles of water per one mole of oxygen involved in the reaction. Therefore, if we have 5 moles and we multiply that by 2, we will get 10 moles of H2O.
