What is true for the following reaction? Ca (s) + 2C (s) CaC2 (s) + 62.8 kJ It is an endothermic reaction and ∆H = + 62.8 kJ. It is an endothermic reaction and ∆H = - 62.8 kJ.     If i am reading correctly, the heat amount (+62.8Kj) is on the right side of the reaction.

    If the heat is on the products (right side of the reaction), that means the reaction is exothermic (heat is released as a product). exothermic reactions have negative ΔH values. so the values for this ΔH = - 62.8 kj.

    the answer is " It is an exothermic reaction and ∆H = - 62.8 kJ"
