Name and describe three types of chemical reactions and give an example of each

A combination or synthesis reaction is one, where a new product is synthesized by combination of two or three reactants.

Decomposition reaction is one, where one compound decomposes or breaks into two or more different products.

An acid and a base combines to give salt and water. This reaction is called as a neutralization reaction or just acid-base reaction.

1. Direct Combination or Synthesis ReactionIn a synthesis reaction two or more chemical species combine to form a more complex product.

2. Chemical Decomposition or Analysis ReactionIn a decomposition reaction a compound is broken into smaller chemical species.

3. Single Displacement or Substitution ReactionA substitution or single displacement reaction is characterized by one element being displaced from a compound by another element.
