What is the difference between a polar and nonpolar compound?

    Polar compounds can dissolve in polar substances and Will not dissolve in non polar substances and same non polar substances will dissolve only in non polarsubstances.

    e. g. Sodium chloride is a polar compound that'll dissolve in water (polar solvent) and the same substance (NaCl) won't dissolve in cyclohexane (A non polar solvent)
