At 325 k, the pressure inside a gas-filled container is 467 kpa. If the pressure inside decreases to 233 kpa, but the volume remains the same, what is the final temperature of the gas?

    According to Gay-Lussac's law, for a fixed mass of gas of constant volume, the pressure is directly proportional to the absolute temperature

    Therefore

    P1/T1 = P2/T2

    Where P1 is initial pressure and T1 is initial temperature

    And P2 is final pressure and T2 is final temperature

    Substituting these values in the equation

    467 kPa / 325 K = 233 kPa / T2

    T2 = 162 K

    The final temperature of the gas is 162 K
