osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a place where they are in higher concentration to a place where the watet molecules are in lower concentration through a partially permeable membrane. diffusion is the random movement of particles down a concentration gradient from a region of higher concentration to a lower concentration until they are evenly distributed

Osmosis is the spontaneous net movement of water across a semipermeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to a more concentrated solution, up a concentration gradient.
