Through a process is known as electrolysis, water can be split into hydrogen and oxygen. What type of reaction is this? Give an explanation for your choice.

    It is called electrolyzer and it consists of an anode and cathode separated by an electrolyte. As the water reacts to the anode to form oxygen and positively charged ions the electrons flow through an exertnal circuit and the hydrogen ions selectively move across the PEM to the cathode. At the cathode the hydrogen ions combine with electrons from the external circuit to form hydrogen gas
