Students in a chemistry class added 4g of magnesium (Mg) to 50g of hydrochloric acid (HCl). A chemical reaction occurred that produced magnesium chloride (MgCl2) and 6g of hydrogen gas (H2).

Mg + HCl → MgCl2 + H2
