The main 7 characteristic of life is movement, respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, excretion, and nutrition.

The dog can use their legs and walk to a place to another, this meets the "movement".

The dog can breathe and undergo gas exchange therefore "respiration" is met.

The dog can detect changes from the environment and respond to them, such as they figured out the weather becomes cooler so they would find a warm blanket or spot to rest in, so "sensitivity" is met.

The dog would grow bigger in size throughout time, so "growth" is met.

The dog would find a mate and reproduce to pass on their genes, so "reproduction" is met.

They would excrete waste from their body, they have the ability to get rid of the excess material out from their body, so they can meet the "excretion" characteristic.

Last but not least, a dog need to eat food in order to get energy, so "nutrition" is also met.
