What is the molecular mass formula of the smallest neutral compound of carbon and oxygen

    It would be both a carbon ion and an oxygen atom. Carbon has a molecular mass of 12, and oxygen is 16, so together that is 28 total mass

    I would think the smallest molecule is just a bond between Carbon and Oxygen.
