A glucose solution (C₆H₁₂O₆₎ has 90 g of glucose in a 500 ml flask. What is the molarity?

    Mass of solute = 90g

    Volume of solvent = 500mL

    1mL = 1cm³

    500mL = 500cm³

    Molarity = no. Of moles of solute / volume of solvent

    No. Of moles of solute = mass / molarmass

    Molar mass of glucose C₆H₁₂O₆ = [ (12*6) + (1*12) + (16*6) ]

    Molar mass of glucose = (72 + 12 + 96) = 180g/mol

    No. Of moles of glucose = 90 / 180 = 0.5 moles

    If 0.5 moles is present in 500cm³

    X moles will be present in 1000cm³

    = (1000 * 0.5) / 500

    = 1 mol/cm³

    The molarity of glucose is 1 mol/cm³
