    The radius of an anion is greater than the radius of its neutral atom. Because anion is a species which is formed when an electron is added to an atom so it becomes negatively charged. When the number of electrons increases in an atom so its atomic size becomes greater and therefore its radius becomes great. The radius of an anion is greater than neutral as it accepts the electrons from others to become stable.

    When an atom gets electrons, it become anion. As the size of atom increases with increase in number of electrons as well as attraction of nucleus also decreases on the outer most shell electrons, due to this size increases as compare to neutral one.
