    The reaction of Ca (OH) 2 + HCl → CaCl2 + H2O is not correct because

    The formula of salt formed is incorrect. It is suppose to be CaCl2 since Ca has a charge of 2 + while cl - has a charge of - 1. Therefore to form ionic bond 2 Cl ion are needed. The equation is not balanced. there is suppose to be 2 in front of HCl and in front of H2O

    Therefore the correct acid - base neutralization reaction is as below

    Ca (OH) 2 + 2HCl→ CaCl2 + 2H2O
