Sr3 (PO4) 2 is Ionic
Explanation:
Ionic compounds are compound that has both cation and anion. This simply means the compound has both positive and negative ion. In an ionic compound their is transfer of electron (s). Usually the cations gives out the electron why the anions receives the electron to complete their shell. Most transition metal undergo ionic boding.
The bonding that exist in the above compound (Sr3 (PO4) 2 or strontium phosphate) is an ionic boding. The strontium metal ion transfer 2 electrons to the phosphate negative ion to fulfill the octet rule. Strontium has 38 electrons, after giving out two electron to phosphate ion, it is left with 36 electrons to fulfill octet rule or attain a noble electronic configuration.
