The limiting agent has due to following properties:

    I. It completely reacted in the reaction.

II. It determines the amount of the product in mole.

The general reaction between Vanadium (v) oxide and Ca is as follows:

    V2O5 (s) + 5Ca (l) = 2V (l) + 5CaO (s)

    Given that mole of V2O5 (s) = 10.0 mole

Mole of Ca = 10.0 mole

    10.0 mole Ca * 1 mole V2O5 / 5 mole Ca

    = 2 mole V2O5

Hence used V2O5 is 2 mole, and Ca is completely used. thus here Ca is limiting agent and V2O5 is present in excess (10-2 = 8 mole)
