The octet rule states that an atom is most stable when its outermost shell has 8 electrons. However, an atom's 3rd principal energy level has 18, which is more than 8. What does this mean?

    It is found that last shell of an atom cannot contain more than 8 electrons. the 3rd principal energy levels last shell cannot contain more than 18 electrons
