Helium in a 100 L container at a pressure of 65.6 atm and temperature of 250 K is transferred to a container with a volume of 250 L and a temperature of 300 K. What is the new pressure?

    V1 = 100L

    P1 = 65.6atm

    T1 = 250K

    V2 = 250L

    T2 = 300K

    To find P2, we have to use combined gas equation, which is the combination of Boyle's law, Charles law and pressure law

    (P1 * V1) / T1 = (P2 * V2) / T2

    P1 * V1 * T2 = P2 * V2 * T1

    P2 = (P1 * V1 * T2) / V2 * T1

    P2 = (65.6 * 100 * 300) / (250 * 250)

    P2 = 1968000 / 62500

    P2 = 31.488atm

    P2 = 31.5atm

    The final pressure of the gas is approximately 31.5atm
