Early transition metals are often found naturally as oxides, whereas late transition metals are often found naturally as sulfides. Find specific examples and use concepts from this chapter and from earlier chapters in the course to offer an explanation for the difference.

    Early transition metals - found on the left side of the periodic table (group 3-7), so called because they form the first part of the transition phase. These metals have less electrons than late transition metals, therefore their last valance matches their group number. Examples of early transitions metals are, Scandium, Titanium, and Manganese

    Late transition metals - fast reacting metals, because their maximum valance shells are full, therefore having accessible oxidation states. Examples are Nickle, Silver, and Cobalt
