The match stick consists of chemicals like potassium, phosphorous, chlorine and lead. The burning of match stick is a chemical reaction called as combustion in this process the red phosphorus converted into white phosphorus to blow the match stick. Initially, the heat is generated by pushing the matching stitch on a specific surface and by the chemical reaction makes the match stick burns. Ultimately, the chemical burns then the wood burns on which the chemical is stuck.

A familiar example is a lighted match. When a match is struck, friction heats the head to a temperature at which the chemicals react and generate more heat than can escape into the air, and they burn with a flame.
