The pressure of a mixture of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen is 300 kPa. What is the partial pressure of oxygen if the partial pressures of the nitrogen and carbon dioxide are 200 kPa and 48 kPa, respectively

    Explanation:

    We apply Dalton's law, according to which the sum of the partial pressures of the gases that make up a gaseous mixture is equal to the total pressure of this:

    Ptotal = P N2 + P C02 + P 02

    300 kPa = 200kPa + 48 kPa + P 02

    P 02 = 300 kPa - 200kPa - 48 kPa = 52 kPa
