Secure a gallon metal can. Remove the lid and heat the can for five minutes with a Bunsen burner. Carefully replace the lid to seal the can. Remove the can from the flame and run cold water over the can. What happened to the can? Explain in detail including a descriptive analysis of what happened in the experiment and in terms of Charles's law.

    Is actually a really neat lab, and i have done it before when i was in chemistry. When you heat a gas, it expands, and when you cool it, it shrinks, this is why balloons sometimes bop in the backseat of a parked car. when you heat the can with a Bunsen burner, it heats up, and when you close it, the air inside gets hot, because it was opened, and the air expanded, all the excess air left the can, when you close it, the air inside is hotter than the outside air. When you run cod water on the can, the can crushes itself, because the can is cooled down, and the air inside shrinks, an it can not fill up the empty space with outside air, because it is closed, so the air inside has less pressure than the air outside, so the outside air crushes the
