Mothballs are solid balls that vaporize when exposed to heat and become smaller until they disappear, this process is called sublimation, and it is part if the kinetic theory of matter. Sublimation is when solid particles break away from each other and the surface to form a gas/vapor. Sublimation is the direct change of solid to gas bypassing the liquid phase.
