Answer : The number of electrons present ion ion are, 5 electrons.

    Explanation:

As we know that an atom is the smallest unit of a matter that consist of three subatomic particles which are electrons, protons and neutrons.

The protons and the neutrons are located inside the nucleus or center of the nucleus where the mass of the an atom is concentrated and the electrons are located around the nucleus.

The protons are positively charged, the electrons are negatively charged and the neutrons are neutral that means it has no charge.

According to the question, an ion has net charge of (+3) that means it loses three electrons.

And the total number of proton present in ion = 8

    The number of electrons present in ion = 8 - 3 = 5 electrons

Therefore, the number of electrons present ion ion are, 5 electrons.

If the atom was in the ground state it would have the same number of electrons as protons which is 8.

    But if it has a charge of 3 = then it only has 8 - 3 = 5 electrons

    Answer: 5 electrons.
