    The answer which is the best description of how electrons are transferred in an ionic bond is - A metal atom loses electrons and a nonmetal atom gains electrons. W hile forming an ionic bond the metal atom loses electrons to gain a positive charge whereas the non-metal atom gains these electrons and gets a negative charge and then these charges attract and they bond together forming the ionic bond.
