From the molecular symbol above, it is evident that per molecule of glucose there are 6 carbon atoms as compared to 12 hydrogen atoms. To be able to determine the ratio between the carbon atoms and hydrogen atoms we simply have to divide the values such that,

    n carbon atoms : n hydrogen atoms

    6: 12

    Simplifying,

    1: 2

    Answer: 1: 2
