Why is acetyl chloride hydrolyzed faster than benzoyl chloride?

    Because of the presence of an aromatic ring in benzoyl chloride. Aromatic rings have delocalized pi electrons that imparts unusual stability to the compound. Moreover, it makes it less polar compared to an Acetyl group.
