Which is the theoretical reason behind the framers favoring of a bicameral congress?

    Theoretical reason for a bicameral legislature is that One house can act as a check on the other.

    One house can act as a check on the other. But it's also true that the Constitution called for it, I believe. Our whole government in the US is set up so no one branch of government rules the roost.
