    M (Fe) = 55.85 g

    m (Cl) = 106.5 g

    M (Fe) = 55.85 g/mol

    M (Cl) = 35.45 g/mol

    n (Fe) = m (Fe) / M (Fe)

    n (Fe) = 55.85/55.85=1

    n (Cl) = m (Cl) / M (Cl)

    n (Cl) = 106.5/35.45=3

FeCl₃ is the most likely empirical formula
