Politics can influence farming practices in many ways.
For example, when it comes to the kind of crops are that are grown, governments in developing countries will often give subsidies in order to keep food crops growing. This is so that there is food to feed the population. When there are no subsidies, farmers may choose to cultivate cash crops instead.
Alternatively big industrial farmers often have lobbies urging politicians to agree to their rules and regulations, which then force small farmers to use genetically modified seeds.
