Suppose element X is a poor conductor of electricity and breaks when hit with a hammer. Element Z is a good conductor of electricity and heat. In what area of periodic table does each element most likely belong?

    Element X most likely belongs on the right hand side of the Periodic Table. Element Z most likely belongs on the left hand side of the Periodic Table. Metals are usually good conductors of heat and electricity. You find them on the left hand side of the Periodic Table. Nonmetals are poor conductors of heat and electricity. You find them on the right hand side of the Periodic Table.
