What characteristic of metalloids makes them particularly useful?

    Metalloids are elements which have some properties that make resemble metals and other properties that resemble non-metals. Exceptional properties including semi-conductivity and being solid phase at standard temperature and pressure are what makes metalloids unique. Examples are silicon and germanium which are semi-conductors.
