Deciduous trees drop their leaves to conserve energy as they enter winter dormancy. In spring, new leaves appear, and the trees begin to grow again. Is likely that a deciduous tree photosynthesize in winter? Explain your answer.

    No, deciduous trees do not photosynthesize in winter as leaves are the only plant organ which contain chlorophyll, the green pigment required to photosynthesize. In fact, deciduous trees store up excess glucose and food produced in their leaves in other seasons and use the stored food for winters.
