Is this an oxidation reaction? Why or why not?

2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O (g) + heat

Note: the g after H₂O indicates that the water is in a gaseous state.

    The oxidation state of Hydrogen in reactant side is 0 and that in product side is + 1. Hence the reaction is oxidation.
