What is the overall goal of diffusion osmosis and facilitated diffusion?

    -Passive transport is a process that allows the transportation of substances with out requiring cellular energy to proceed.

    The overall goal of diffusion, osmosis and facilitated diffusion would be to move substances across a cell membrane. May it be that it needs energy to do this or not, these processes involves the movement of a substance from one place to another through a membrane. Hope this answers the question.
