Does a strong acid have a greater or lesser tendency to lose its proton than a weak acid?

    Compared to a weak acid, a strong acid has a greater habit of losing it's proton (hydrogen). For example, when hydrochloric acid (strong) encounters water, it is much more likely to donate its hydrogen to water, compared to nitrous acid (weak).
