What are the atomic number and mass number of the beta particle?

    A beta particle is simply put an electron. An electron contains only a negative charge. Now, atomic number is the number of protons in the atom. Thus, the atomic number for a beta particle is 0. The mass number is the sum of protons and neutrons. Again, since this is only an electron, the mass number is 0.
