    This statement is true. Pure water has a neutral pH of 7. However, the atmosphere is a mixture of gases, which includes carbon dioxide among others. When it interacts with carbon dioxide, this reaction occurs:

    H₂O + CO₂ → H₂CO₃

    The product is carbonic acid which is a weak acid. Because the pH of an acid is below 7, the rain would also have a pH below 7.
