Why is the first ionization of beryllium is greater than boron

    It's because of the electron configuration of both of the atoms:

    *beryllium:

    ₄Be: 1s² 2s²

    *boron:

    ₅B: 1s² 2s² 2p¹

    Boron has one unpaired electron and it's easier to remove it than the paired one.
