What is the transmission rate of Ethernet LANs? For a given transmission rate, can each user on the LAN continuously transmit at this rate?

    Answer: Ethernet LANs can have transmission rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps. Each user cannot transmit at the same rate when all users are using the same transmission rate.

    Explanation:

    Suppose we are given a transmission rate x Mbps and we have 4 users A, B, C, D. If A is only active then it can transmit at x Mbps but if all are active then the users have to share and all cannot transmit at x Mbps.
