The general method of actuation of brakes are as follows:
1. Mechanically actuated
In this method linkages or livers are used to produce the action of brakes. In this mechanical component is used to apply the brakes. Band brakes, shoe brakes etc are the example of mechanical breaks.
2. Electrically actuated
In this method magnetic coil is used to and this magnetic coil produce magnetic field due to this magnetic filed brakes apply.
3. Pneumatically actuated
In this method compressed air is supply from high pressure vessel and this pressurized air apply the break.
