Why did george mason oppose majority rule for commercial and navigation laws?

    His opinion was that considering there are only 5 southern states, and 8 northern states, the majority which would consist of norther states mostly doesn't understand to what extent southern countries are different when it comes to economy and this is why majority rule would lead to the detriment of southern states. He proposed that instead of a majority rule, the two thirds rule is implemented.
