    Because Gandhi, though a pacificist, exhibited non-co-operation with the British colonialists which made him annoying to them. He had become politicized in South Africa where he was treated in a racist manner which infuriated him and determined him to return to India and participate in the independence movement which eventually led to the expulsion of the / British colonialists,
